TEASA is committed to advocacy, unity, capacity-building, and discipleship to strengthen the evangelical movement in South Africa. Our programmes equip churches and leaders to engage effectively in faith and public life.

Advocacy

Giving a Voice to Evangelicals
TEASA provides a platform for its 4 million members to engage in matters that affect faith, justice, and the integrity of the gospel.

Connecting the Church

Fostering Unity & Collaboration
TEASA promotes unity among churches by facilitating:

  • Mission collaboration among evangelical churches

  • Associate membership with the South African Council of Churches

  • South African Christian Leadership Initiative (SACLI) – A national Christian leadership network addressing key social issues

Capacity Building Through Commissions3.1 Church Planting and Evangelism

Led by Rev Karl Teichert, this commission envisions a healthy church in every community in Southern Africa.
• Works through the Church Planting Alliance
• Mobilises churches for saturation church planting

3.2 Mission Commission

Facilitates mission collaboration through the World Evangelisation Network of South Africa (WENSA), uniting mission networks for greater impact.

3.3 Theological Commission

Provides theological reflection on key issues to help the evangelical movement offer a biblically inspired and relevant witness. Led by Dr Coenie Burger.

3.4 Women’s Commission

Advocates for women’s empowerment in the Church, challenging structures that limit their contributions. Led by Mrs Esme Bowers (TEASA Chair).

3.5 Disciple-Making Movement

Restoring the Church’s Movement Ethos
TEASA invites churches to a disciple-making journey, fostering:
• Intentional discipleship for Christlike growth
• Social transformation through Christian ethics
• Intergenerational disciple-making movements
• Responsive churches that meet community needs

Be Part of a Disciple-Making Partnership

TEASA Resolutions

Resolution on Palestine

TEASA acknowledges the suffering of Palestinian Christians and commits to:
• Informing and equipping evangelicals on the Holy Land crisis
• Partnering with Palestinian Christians for a just peace
• Addressing the theological challenge of Christian Zionism

Resolution on Discipleship

In alignment with WEA’s Decade of Discipleship (2020–2030), TEASA:
• Encourages churches to participate in the discipleship movement
• Promotes the Africa Study Bible as a key resource
• Advocates for customised discipleship approaches in local churches

🇼🇸 Resolution on West Papua

TEASA recognises the plight of West Papuan evangelicals and commits to:
• Engaging with Indonesian evangelical leaders on the issue
• Developing a solidarity programme with West Papuan Christians
• Raising the issue with the South African government (DIRCO)

Resolution on Theological Training of Leaders

Recognising that 85–95% of evangelical pastors in Africa lack formal theological training, TEASA commits to:
• Developing a national strategy for theological training
• Promoting theological education in member churches
• Supporting Africa’s goal to reduce untrained pastors by 20% every five years
